Arcangelo Corelli Christmas Concerto, performed on original instruments by the award winning Early Music ensemble Voices of Music. 8K video from our December 2021 concert. Elizabeth Blumenstock, Kati Kyme & William Skeen, soloists. The concerto begins with a dramatic and abrupt short introduction, a bump in the night, and this is followed by a serene and sustained section marked "Grave" and "come sta" (play it as written). A noteworthy moment is the Adagio-Allegro-Adagio section which is featured in the movie "Master and Commander."
With its epic drone notes, the concluding Pastorale invokes the tradition of the Italian _Zampogna_ (bagpipe) players who would come into Rome on Christmas eve.
