In today’s video I help out my friend with his ‘02 (8th gen) Toyota Corolla. He was having issues with both the inside door handle not opening the door, as well as the door not staying shut once open from the outside.
We pull off the door panel and find an easy fix inside by straightening a bent slider tab connecting the two handles to the latch assembly. I also replaced the door panel with one that was less deformed and damaged.
This guide, while specific to this E110 generation Corolla (and accompanying Geo/Chevrolet Prizm), is probably similar to how many car door handles and latches work, especially from this era. Don’t be afraid, try the repair yourself!
