Spanish is a language that has a lot of words and verbs with different meanings and uses. That is why for the following 8 days we are going to quickly teach you a new word with different meanings each day.
¡Hola de nuevo queridos! Este es nuestro último verbo. Recuerda dejar tu frase para corregirte.
We did a contest in March this year where we taught about these verbs but we wanted to make this available to everybody. I hope you enjoy these quick videos.
COULD - Usos
1) Pude - Pudiste - Pudo - Pudieron - Pudimos - Conjugated in the preterite indicative
No pude hacer mi tarea ayer porque tuve que ir al médico.
I could not do my homework yesterday because I had to go to the doctor.
Juan no pudo visitar a María porque tuvo que trabajar mucho el viernes.
Juan could not visit María because he had to work a lot on Friday.
2) Podía - Podías - Podía - Podían - Podíamos - Conjugated in the imperfect indicative
Yo no podía llegar tarde a mi casa cuando tenía 12 años porque mis padres no me dejaban.
I could not get home late when I was 12 years old because my parents would not let me.
Yo no podía hablar inglés cuando era joven, pero ahora sí puedo porque he estudiado mucho.
I could not speak English when I was younger, but now I can because I have studied a lot.
3) Podría - Podrías - Podría - Podrían - Podríamos - Conjugated in the conditional simple
¿Podrías recogerme en el aeropuerto el viernes?
Could you pick me up at the airport on Friday?
Si ellos tuvieran más plata, podrían viajar más.
If they had more money, they could travel more.
4) Pudiera - Pudieras - Pudiera - Pudieran - Pudieramos - Conjugated in the imperfect subjunctive
Te ayudaría si pudiera hacerlo.
I would help you if I could.
Ojalá pudieras ir conmigo.
I wish you could go with me.
