I used cross-hatching within this tutorial to create detail and three-dimension prior to adding a watercolor wash.
Ink and wash is a relatively new technique for me, but I am really enjoying using it for some of my wildlife tutorials. Using cross-hatching, stippling, scumbling and a variety of other techniques to build the actual tonal differences, really helps focus your mind on the lights and darks within a subject. In this video, we look at some basic pen techniques which will stand you in good stead for any pen and ink wildlife drawings that you may work on.
