**Yevhen Shybalov: A Veteran-Turned-Taxi Driver on Captivity, Torture, and Humiliation at the Ministry of Veterans Affairs**
Yevhen Shybalov is a veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war, a former prisoner of war, and now, for the first time in his life, a taxi driver. As recently as December 2024, he was the head of a department at the Ministry of Veterans Affairs but resigned, citing systematic humiliation by the leadership.
After submitting his resignation, Yevhen wrote a widely discussed post, quoting the crude insults he had endured. In an interview with *hromadske* correspondent Mariyana Pyetsukh, he admits that within the walls of the ministry, he once again felt the same humiliation he had experienced in captivity.
