Meet Tabitha Chawinga, a Malawian professional footballer who currently plays as a forward for Paris Saint-Germain Féminine, on loan from Chinese side Wuhan Jianghan University FC. She also plays for the Malawi women's national team. She shares in this interview how she found herself in football, the resistance she faced from some of her friends and family and how she persisted. She also talks about the stigma and discrimination she has suffered due to her fairly masculine looks.
Tabitha's football record remains impeccable, at age 18, she played for Swedish third-division club Krokom/Dvärsätts IF, where she earned the league's golden boot after scoring 39 goals in 18 games. She was the first women's footballer from Malawi to play for a European club.
