We're recycling 280,000 tons of asphalt and concrete from the existing interstate to produce NDDOT Salvage Base. The 100% recycled aggregate will be placed on the road grade as the foundation for new concrete to be poured, connecting the cities of Fargo an Grand Forks North Dakota. The two primary benefits of crushing the old interstate into base for the new segment are:
1. Reduced environmental impact by not having to mine new aggregates
2. Tremendous cost savings be reducing transport cost across the project.
Projects like these have become commonplace when working with DOT's and present a very sustainable option to maintain our nations infrastructure.
