Despite its slight inconveniences, Cuba is a highly addictive travel destination. Due to its history as a Caribbean Soviet satellite nation under the weight of the U.S. Economic Embargo (El Bloqueo) Cuba has a unique feel. Since the dark ages of the special period of the early 1990’s, Cuba has relied on tourism to fuel its ailing economy. Due to its late start in tourism, Cuba is far more inexpensive that other Caribbean island.
