Quantum Annealing for Ticket Control: Real-World Optimization in Public Transport
This talk presents a quantum annealing approach for optimizing ticket inspection schedules in public transport. By formulating the inspector routing challenge on D-Wave’s systems, we achieve more efficient, fair, and uniform coverage than classical methods. We illustrate how operational constraints translate into a suitable quantum optimization setup, and share real-world test results that improved resource allocation and route coverage. The findings pave the way for broader quantum-driven innovations in logistics and transport.
