At Qubits 2025, Catherine Potts, staff technical advisor at D-Wave, provided a detailed presentation on using the nonlinear solver to address capacitated multi-vehicle routing problems. The session demonstrated how quantum algorithms can optimize fleet management and logistics, improving efficiency in operations that involve complex scheduling and resource allocation.
D-Wave’s newest hybrid solver, the Nonlinear Solver, allows practitioners to move past quadratic optimization problems and utilizes a directed acyclic graph-based structure to encode models. In this talk, we’ll see that work in action with an example of capacitated multi-vehicle routing. Open-source Ocean tools developed by D-Wave’s Algorithms, Performance, and Tools team will be utilized as well as the application development workflow developed by D-Wave’s Professional Services team.
About Qubits:
D-Wave’s annual quantum computing conference highlighted how quantum solutions are addressing real-world challenges in logistics, manufacturing, financial services, life sciences, and more. The conference featured groundbreaking work in quantum-fueled AI, optimization, and materials science, along with insights into the latest quantum hardware and software from D-Wave’s development team. Attendees had the chance to participate in hands-on technical sessions designed to accelerate the adoption of quantum computing in your organization.
Quantum isn’t decades away. It’s here today. Quantum Realized, brought to you by D-Wave.
