I've seen and heard talk about using a Daihatsu Mira Walkthrough (Crawlthrough) van as a solo camping van. It is small as it is a kei van but it being an empty van it has potential to build out stuff.
If you do solo camp though unless you're exclusively out in the country roads, you may want to look into a power upgrade like the Mira TRXX engine swap; especially since it would be loaded with additional cargo like your camper stuff.
