Description:
Turn a simple daikon into a beautiful chrysanthemum flower with this easy garnish technique!
In this video, we’ll show you how to make Kikka Daikon, a traditional Japanese decorative cutting technique. You don’t need any special tools or skills—just follow the simple steps to create this stunning garnish!
How to Make It:
1. Cut the daikon into dice-shaped cubes.
2. Round the edges of the cube to shape it into a cylinder.
3. On the top surface of the cylinder, make a cross-shaped cut.
4. Flip the cylinder over and make shallow cuts halfway down the height, moving from one end to the other (similar to making thin slices).
5. Rotate the daikon 90 degrees, and repeat the shallow cuts to create a crosshatch pattern.
6. Soak the daikon in salted water for a while to soften it.
7. Remove it from the saltwater and gently open the cuts with your hands to create flower-like petals.
8. Garnish with a chrysanthemum flower and chili pepper for the finishing touch!
Perfect for special occasions or as an elegant touch to your dishes. Enjoy the beauty of Japanese culinary art with this simple yet stunning technique!
