Update 2: Used them in April 2023 to a Bentonville trip - only fell down a few times and these pads saved my bacon both times - especially the elbow pads from skidding across the dirt, pebbles and rocks! The thread used to attach the elastic calf band, is poking my right calf. The stong nylon thread they use wasn't trimmed enough, or the pads have worn in enough so it feels like you're being poked by a wire. I put a piece of adhesive sports tape over the junction where the calf band is sewn into the seam, on each end of that calf band. The other pad is unaffected by this oddity of manufacture.
Update: 1 year later and I still love these pads. They've held together, and still don't slip down. Still in regular rotation too....
Trail test of Dainese’s Trail Skin Air Knee and Elbow pads 2021. Might be the best ventilated pad ever….? My previous pads were Fox's Launch Enduro knee pads from a few years back - those pads had conventional pad material, neoprene construction and were too hot to wear in the summertime (they did make great cool weather knee warmers though!). My search for pads landed me at Dainese's door, and these new Trail Skin Air pads flow so much air, that I'll probably have to find some warmer pads come fall and winter! Never thought the Trail Skin Airs would be so good, but they are fantasticly comfortable, ergonomic, easy pedalling, and don't fall down. Also, if you do get em, order one size smaller than Dainese's size chart (they even recommend that). Cheers, and happy trails.
