We are visiting a farmer in the Volyn region.
Farmer Smithyukh Ivan Evdokimovich kindly agreed to a short tour of his farm.
The dairy farm has a total livestock of about 1150 animals. Cows were purchased in Poland, Germany, Holland famous Holstein breed. A herd of 400 dairy cows produces approximately 12,000 liters of milk per day.
A separate part of the farm is allocated for growing calves and young cows and gobies. From birth, young animals receive whole milk from 6 to 8 liters per day for up to 80 days. All animals receive a balanced diet of their own production. 6000 hectares of its own land provides feed for the entire economy.
'A cow is a very delicate creature! Very social and with a thin nervous system! Need to love a cow! ' - noted Ivan Evdokimovich. Therefore, care, from birth until the cow begins to give milk, is very thorough. The most important people on any dairy farm are the livestock specialist and veterinarian who monitor the nutrition, health and well-being of the cows in the herd.
The farm has all the necessary equipment for processing fields and caring for cows. For the preparation and distribution of feed. The whole farm employs about 100 people in various jobs.
The farm is universal, there is not only milk production but also the cultivation of livestock feed, gardening, the cultivation of berries and vegetables.
