Dali Ancient City (大理古城) is a historical and cultural gem located in Yunnan Province (云南省), China. The history of Dali Ancient City dates back to the Kingdom of Nanzhao (南诏国) in the 8th century and later became the capital of the Dali Kingdom (大理国) in the 10th century. Foreigner's Street (洋人街), for example, is a bustling thoroughfare filled with cafes, bars, souvenir shops, and restaurants serving both local Bai delicacies and international cuisine. The city's markets are a feast for the senses, offering a variety of local products such as tie-dyed textiles, handmade ceramics, and the region's renowned tea.
Cultural festivals and events play a significant role in the life of Dali Ancient City. The most notable is the San Yue San (三月三), the March Street Festival, which takes place in the third lunar month. It is a time when the Bai people celebrate with traditional music, dance, and a grand market that attracts visitors and locals alike.
