Dali Ancient City (大理古城) is a historical and cultural gem located in Yunnan Province (云南省), China. Nestled between the Cangshan Mountains (苍山) and Erhai Lake (洱海), this city is a perfect blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage, making it a must-visit destination for those exploring the region. The history of Dali Ancient City dates back to the Kingdom of Nanzhao (南诏国) in the 8th century and later became the capital of the Dali Kingdom (大理国) in the 10th century. Throughout the centuries, it has been a melting pot of different cultures, including the Bai people (白族), one of the ethnic minorities in China, who have left a significant mark on the city's architecture, customs, and cuisine. Upon entering Dali Ancient City, visitors are greeted by the traditional Bai-style architecture, characterized by its three-part structure: a central room flanked by two wing rooms, a layout that reflects the Bai people's emphasis on symmetry and balance. The buildings are adorned with intricate carvings, upturned eaves, and brightly colored paintings, adding to the city's charm. Another highlight is the Three Pagodas (三塔), located just northwest of the city. These towering structures are among the oldest and best-preserved Buddhist buildings in China, reflecting Dali's role as a historical center of Buddhism in the region. Dali Ancient City is also famous for its vibrant street life. Foreigner's Street (洋人街), for example, is a bustling thoroughfare filled with cafes, bars, souvenir shops, and restaurants serving both local Bai delicacies and international cuisine. The city's markets are a feast for the senses, offering a variety of local products such as tie-dyed textiles, handmade ceramics, and the region's renowned tea. Cultural festivals and events play a significant role in the life of Dali Ancient City. The most notable is the San Yue San (三月三), the March Street Festival, which takes place in the third lunar month. It is a time when the Bai people celebrate with traditional music, dance, and a grand market that attracts visitors and locals alike. 🌟Planning a Trip to Dali? 🌍Dali Top Attractions: https://trip.tp.st/JANHcg5V 🎉Follow 💫DuckTravel走鴨旅行✨ 👉Subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/@DuckTravel?sub_confirmation=1 👉Join Us: https://www.youtube.com/@DuckTravel/Join 👉Contact Me:https://www.instagram.com/wn.wang/ ☕Buy Me A Coffee: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/DuckTravel 💥ℹ️Turn ON the Closed Captions (CC) for info about Attractions ! 📷Date of shooting January 12, 2024 🗺️Interactive map https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1kXyZDZSmTa-rTjVSaCgzmeciX-JZM3M 📍Attractions and routes Dali Ancient City (大理古城) https://maps.app.goo.gl/nyHerRYCSqBbs1caA March Street (三月街) https://maps.app.goo.gl/GdArZW222oCrMsdHA 🎬Itinerary 00:00 Dali Ancient City (大理古城) 03:59 Streets filled with lanterns 07:39 The main street of the ancient city 11:47 This is a bar street at night 32:11 Wuhua Building (五华楼) 42:09 The main street of the ancient city 50:52 Foreigner Street (洋人街) 58:25 Beautiful streets 1:09:32 Many college students set up street stalls here 1:16:04 March Street (三月街) 1:25:52 A market with many tourists Thanks for watching!
