From Elden Ring to Demon's Souls, Dark Souls is legendary, but the franchise almost never made it out of blightotwn between Sony almost shutting the whole series down with the release of Demon's Souls, to the troubled launch of the first Dark Souls altogether. It took five years for the majority of creators to start even looking in this games direction to start writing video essays and retrospectives on what is one of the greatest, impactful games of all time.
