Learn how to light night exteriors from an indie level to a Hollywood level - Behind The Scenes VLOG
Recently I had the opportunity to connect with @filmmakers_academy and be apart of their Night Exteriors Masterclass with DP Shane Hurlbut. This was a lot of fun, it was a two day shoot where Shane shows you how to light night exteriors from an Indie Level to a Hollywood Level and you know I had to get Behind the Scenes of the days! We talked about the challenges of lighting night scenes showing how he sets up lights, balances practicals, chooses what color moonlight he wants and overall just how to create those beautiful cinematic shots. Plus, I got a chance to camera Operate with the @Sony Burano and a Scorpio Head which I've NEVER done before.
I think the biggest thing I learned wasn't even just how to light a night scene but really learning to be uncomfortable and embrance new territory. Camera Operating for a more seasoned DP allows you to learn so much and it challenges you. So here's a fun glimpse into what it’s really like to work on a pro film set. You’ll see how everything comes together between the camera team and the lighting crew, and how they work to get those perfect shots.
