Hi, I'm John, and welcome to The Jigsaw Puzzler. Thanks for watching my video about this deceptively difficult jigsaw puzzle from the National Gallery of Australia: "Through the windscreen", by Cressida Campbell!
I am rarely stumped by a jigsaw puzzle, but this one did me in! While the image is wonderful (I chose it for the image, after all), the quality of the piece cut is such that there are false fits everywhere. Multiple pieces can fit into almost any space, making it very challenging to complete. The 'fun' of doing jigsaw puzzles leaches away in the face of the struggle just to put any piece in the correct place.
I did what I could, then gave up. For the first time in many, many years.
In this video we’ll walk you through:
- An overview of the jigsaw puzzle image
- A look at the quality of the jigsaw puzzle
- The strategies I used to complete the jigsaw puzzle up to the point where I abandoned it, and the strategies I tried in order to persist (but gave up eventually)
