Delft is a city in the west of the Netherlands in the province of South Holland. It is located on the Schee River between Rotterdam and The Hague. The population is more than 100 thousand people. Delft is a small typical Dutch city with a picturesque historical center, beautiful 17th-century architecture, canals and bicycles. This is the first capital of the Netherlands, which gained fame due to the production of porcelain. Delft is home to a major technical university, thanks to which the city has become a center of Dutch high technology and innovation, and the New Church has been the burial place of the royal family since the end of the 16th century. The climate is temperate marine. Summers are quite warm, and winters are mild with slight frosts. The best time to visit Delft is April - May and July - August. On Thursday and Saturday, a market is held on de Markt Square between the New Church and the Town Hall, where you can buy not only food and traditional goods, but also clothes. The flower market (Brabantse Turfmarkt) is located nearby.
