This greenfield expressway under Bharatmala Pariyojna (BMP) Phase 2 will run parallel to National Highway NH-2 (old) and link Varanasi Ring Road Km 00.000 (near Barhuli village) to Km 610.417 NH-16, near Uluberia, Howrah District, West Bengal. There are a total of 50 expressways in India in which vehicles run at a speed of 120 kmph. Two wheelers are usually not allowed in these fast moving expressways. Similar proposals include 146.2 km expressway from Sambalpur to Ranchi and 700 km expressway from Raipur to Dhanbad via Ranchi. These expressways will benefit around 9-10 districts of Jharkhand which include Hazaribagh, Chatra, Ranchi, Ramgarh, Khunti, Bokaro, Dhanbad Gumla and Dumka. The expressway under the Greenfield Project will have 6 to 8 lane roads that will pass through various fields and will have the least number of turns. All high speed vehicles will be allowed on the expressway. Ganga Expressway Ganga Expressway is an under-construction 594 km long, 6-lane wide (expandable to 8) greenfield expressway in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. Phase-1 will connect Bijauli village on NH-334 in Meerut district with Judapur Dandu village on NH-19 in Allahabad district. The foundation stone of Ganga Expressway was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 18 December 2021 in Shahjahanpur. The expressway is expected to be completed by 2024. To know the pace and progress of construction of a Ganga Expressway in the primary works scheduled by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for Mahakumbh 2025 as well as to remove the obstacles in the construction work, Uttar Pradesh Government’s Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi conducted an on-site inspection of the Ganga Expressway being built from Prayagraj to Meerut in Pratapgarh. Expressing displeasure over finding the pace of soil work very slow, Minister Nandi directed the officials to increase the pace of work and in any case complete the construction work of the first carriageway of 596 km long Ganga Expressway by 31 December 2024. Minister Nandi clearly warned the concerned officials that negligence in this work will not be tolerated at all.
