Dr James Turner is a PhD graduate in philosophy from the University of Sheffield, UK. He has a general research interest in cognitive science, evolutionary theory, and the philosophy of psychiatry. In particular, his research focuses on philosophical questions about low mood and depression, including "What is the (evolutionary) function of low mood?" and "Is depression a psychological dysfunction, or a functional response to adverse conditions?"
