Filmed at The New York Comedy Club by the presitgous Grove 34 Studios, "Late Bloomer" is an apt title for Derek as he has had several lives in one - all coming together later in life than he expected. Derek has been a high school dropoout, laborer, hotielier, Navy war veteran, writer, comic and actor all before the age of 40. This special encompasses a lifetime of humor delivered in an ascerbic and near deadpan manner. Derek is a "Rust Belt Philosopher and Working Class Sage" who has deep thoughts from the shallow end of the gene pool
