Kannada actor Ranya Rao in custody has been accessed by India Today TV for the first time since her arrest from Bengaluru international airport for charges of gold smuggling. She was caught with 14.8 kg gold worth Rs 12 crore on Monday night upon her arrival from Dubai.
While Rao petitioned for a bail, the Economic Offences Court reserved its order on her bail petition for Friday. During the hearing, the advocate for the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) argued that further custody was necessary to investigate how she violated protocols and how the smuggling operation was carried out.

कन्नड़ फिल्मों की एक्ट्रेस रान्या राव बड़ी मुश्किल में फंसती नजर आ रही है. उनके ऊपर 14.8 किलो सोने की तस्करी का आरोप है. शुरुआती जांच में ये सामने आया है कि रान्या के लिंक दुबई तक थे और वे काफी समय से सोने की तस्करी में शामिल थी. इस बार भी वे दुबई से ही सोना लेकर आ रही थी लेकिन बंगेलुरु एयरपोर्ट पर उन्हें हिरासत में ले लिया गया. डीआरआई के अधिकारियों ने उन्हें हिरासत में लिया है. फिलहाल एक्ट्रेस से पुलिस पूछताछ कर रही है.
