The Mindeleff cavates were man made and carved out by the sinaugua people a long time ago.
The Sinagua occupied these cavates from about 1150 to 1350 AD.
It was cosmos Mindeleff and his wife Marion that conducted the first detailed archaeological survey of the site back in 1891.
