This video essay compares and contrasts Rick and Morty and Futurama to determine the best animated sci-fi comedy series ever made. While Futurama came first, in 2013, Rick and Morty exploded onto the scene and quickly developed a cult following due to its unique brand of comedy and adventurous sci-fi storylines. This breakdown will use five categories of judging criteria: Premise, Style of Comedy, Heart, Action and Sci-fi storytelling, where certain episodes will fight it out head to head.
