Dinosaur National Monument has been on our family's list of "places to visit" for YEARS! Our boys are dino obsessed, so we mainly wanted to see the Utah side, but this park blew us away with all the diverse and amazing things it had to offer. Besides the wall of fossils, the amazing canyon landscapes, petroglyphs and history of the area is what sucked us in. We spent two full days enjoying this National Monument.

Day 1 we hit up the Utah side of the park which consisted of visitor center, dinosaur fossil wall, fun hikes to petroglyphs, and breathtaking viewpoints.

Day 2 we headed over to the Colorado entrance of the park. This side boasted amazing overlooks of canyons. We hiked the Harpers Corner Trail to the confluence of the Green and Yampa rivers. Be sure to purchase the trail guide book ($1) at the trailhead. It helped point out features that we would have otherwise missed as well as fun facts about the area. After a day of hiking in the heat, we decided to take a dip in the Green river under Steamboat rock. It was a refreshing way to finish off the day in the most incredible surroundings.

Don't miss this little known hidden gem in our National Park System.
