In this online workshop we explore the transformative potential of two types of discarded plastic — HDPE and PET — into jewellery pieces. PET plastic bottles mostly come from soft drinks. Some are clear and some tinted with colour and when manipulated they resemble driftglass from the sea. HDPE (high-density polyethylene) is a type of resin in milky translucent white, which means it looks opaque but still lets the light to go through. That quality makes it look delicate and intricate when magically transformed into beautiful organic forms. This workshop today shows how to deal with plastic from plastic bottles and milk containers. They are both easy to cut and easy to manipulate. The workshop includes creating components for jewellery with forming flowers with 3 petals out of plastic pieces, moulding them with heat to more organic shape, adding decorative elements, and finally assembling the components together into necklace design.
