Bhutan_Yak Lha, the Yak Ritual

Video Not Working? Fix It Now

The Yak Lha ceremony is a ritual for cattle deities(yaks and cows) held in the Ura Valley of Bhutan, originating from the Bön religious practice of Tibet. It is unclear when the Tibetan customs were introduced to Bhutan, and it is also uncertain when the Yak Lha ceremony began in the Ura Valley. However, given that a similar festival is held in the neighbouring Tang Valley, it is likely that it was transmitted by the indigenous people who migrated from Tibet over a thousand years ago. #bhutan #bhutanculture #unesco #ichcap #bhutantravel
