In Part I, watch me boot MS-DOS and Windows 3.1 on my (disk-less) Tandy 2500 SX/25 over a network from a Windows NT Server using the RPL protocol. I walk through the hardware I'm using for the project, configuring network cards for RPL boot, setting up the server to enabling it to serve remoteboot clients, and configuring boot, operating system, and workstation profiles. Finally, we boot up MS-DOS over the network and then install a network copy of Windows 3.1.
This project was meant to be done as one video and include Windows 95, but it got too long. So stay tuned for Part II, when I move on to a disk-less Windows 95 installation!
AUDIO NOTE! My wireless mic did have a couple of sporadic issues during this video; I've tried to attenuate the random pops and whine as much as possible, but I wasn't able to completely remove them. They span a range of frequencies. I'm hopeful the volume differential of the few problem areas isn't excessive. I tried my best here...this is a hobbyist channel, folks. No, a lowpass filter is not enough...to be effective, the video would sound very muffled with lowpass filter given the wide frequency range of the interference.
Music/SFX (in order):
None. Just me blathering.
