Disused Railway walk Ashchurch to Malvern looking to see what remains, as well as enjoying a good walk although it would take several days to complete on foot. Starting in Ashchurch ending in Malverns lovely station, and calling into Tewkesbury and Upton on Severn on the way. This line has everything, tunnels, river crossings, beautiful stations and stunning countryside as well. Starting in Ashchurch we can see where the railway began and then follow it into the centre of Tewkesbury as far as the flour mills and small dock area. Leaving Tewksbury the line travels over the flood plane and through a tunnel heading for ripple. Here it has the river Severn for company before crossing to the other side just after Ripple Station, which still stands today but is now a private dwelling. Having crossed the Severn the railway makes its way past Upton on Severn, then wends through the flattish countryside passing fields and farms before joining the main line through Malvern and so to the wonderfully preserved old station. My passion has been walking, I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s last year and walking does not come naturally any more, however the more I walk the easier it gets, for now anyway.
I hope these video’s will inspire others to keep going and hanging on in there.
