The Finger Slides are a collection of rock climbing routes on Dix Mountain in the Adirondacks, New York. The slides are located in the mountain's northern cirque and are arranged in a half-mile stretch from southwest to northeast. The slides are named after fingers, with the Thumb slide at the right and the Pinky on the left.
The Right Most Ring finger is the steepest and most technical and my personal favorite from the day! I believe the pitch was around 45+ in some areas. There was a definite need for handholds and hand and foot jams in cracks to pull purselves up. All things can be avoided with Treeline, but we wanted to stay on the slab as much as possible.
During this vlog i was misinformed of the names of the fingers and repeatedly call the 3 Ring Fingers the “3 index fingers” and next to the thump i said it was the Pointer Slide… I guess it helps to look at the slide guide before going 😂
In my defense, I spent the time figuring out the logistics and plotting of this day, just not the orientation of my fingers 😂
