Corn husk weaving
- both practical and meditative. In this video I show a method that is suitable for weaving baskets, trays and hot stands.
In my understanding, a hot pad is a circle 17-21 cm in size, which is used for placing under pots, pans, a kettle, teapot, baking pots, etc. Dark colors are more practical in the long term, although the stands are easy to clean with water and detergent (brush or sponge) and dry quickly.
Today, napkins-mats with a diameter of about 30 cm, which are also called placemats or table mats, have become very popular. This technique is also applicable for weaving them, but the products will be quite textured (inconvenient for small cups, for example) and rigid. For these products, the method I showed in previous videos is better suited.
