Hello Everyone,
In this video I try to share the step by step method to making a pair of Regency Short Stays inspired by a pair that Daphne wears in Bridgerton. You can get the pattern in my Etsy shop KittyJBerry : https://www.etsy.com/KittyJBerry/listing/1200389173/digital-pattern-pdf-regency-stays-18th?utm_source=Copy&utm_medium=ListingManager&utm_campaign=Share&utm_term=so.lmsm&share_time=1647833425937
After reading an amazing blog post Sabine Schierhoff, where she discusses her journey in making stays from a pattern in a book from 1810 by J.S. Berhardt, I was inspired to re-attempt making my short stays for my Bridgerton ensemble! I wanted to take some ideas I gleamed from the blog post and the patterns, and mix them with the idea of making the body of the stays conical shaped with triangle shaped cutouts and deep rounded bust ores. My hope was to make a pair of stays that would lift and comfortably support my larger bust. I was very happy with the way my stays came out and wanted to share the pattern and process with you.

The first pair of stays I made where made of 3 layers. the outer layer was satin, the inside layer was coutil for strength and support, and I lined the stays with cotton. While I am satisfied with the end result of these stays, the satin was very slippery to work with.
I made my second pair of stays from a lovely yard of silk called Esme from FancyStylesFabric. This pair of stays is only made of two layers, the silk as the outer fashion layer and the coutil as the strength layer. This pair was very easy to put together, and the binding was made from scraps of bias cut Esme silk.
