The steel frame is made out of 20x1,5mm square tube and the wood slats were cut from 100x10x2500 boards of walnut Bahia (also knows as "abura"). Since these chairs are meant to be always outside the steel was treated with an antirust primer before being painted in charcoal grey and the wood was finished with 3 coats of marine water-based polyurethane (for high water and UV protection). All the hardware (self-drilling screws and adjustable feet with rubber caps) is stainless steel. They'll hold perfectly fine outside all year round. These are a new version of another set I designed and build a few years ago. I loved that design and with some minor changes and tweaks to adjust for the different sizes of the materials and different finishes I was looking for, it was possible to roughly cut in half the weight and drastically improve comfort and convenience.
