Do You Need The Best Leather? | Direct Project Comparison Expensive To Economy Leather #leathercraft

Video Not Working? Fix It Now

Today I will be comparing Hermann Oak Leather to a less expensive option. Hermann Oak Leather is considered to be the standard that VegTan leather is measured by when shopping for leather. The leather that I’m using is 8-9 ounce tooling leather from Herman Oak and 8-9 ounce MTL Leather from Montana leather. Both of these are VegTan leathers. I will create four separate projects to compare the differences with oiled finishes. The first comparison will be VegTan leather with oil and clear finishes. The second comparison will be to add an antique finish with a Resolene finish. I will be creating tooled basket weave patterns on four different leather journal covers.

Creating A Custom Leather Belt, Hiking The Appalachian Trail, How To Make A Snakeskin Belt, How To Protect Snakeskin Scales When Making A Snakeskin Belt, Handmade Leather Belts, Constructing Leather Belts, The Best Leather To Make Belts, The Tools Needed To Make Leather Belts, Tools For Your Leather Craft Hobby, are all topics that I cover on my channel.

There will be links below for both leathers and supplies used in today’s video.

I would like to thank Montana leather for supplying the Leather for the video today. Both leathers tooled well. The Herman Oak has more of a golden tone to it. This difference in color can be mitigated, I feel, by using dyes and antique finishes.
