The ‘Take It Down Act’ will combat the rise in AI image generation, particularly targeting fake photos made of real women.
The new law will ensure online platforms remove non-consensual intimate imagery within 48 hours of receiving a valid request.
The law has been praised for protecting women from escalating threats of exploitation.
Melania had championed the bill since her husband had returned to the White House in January.
