She was born on 13 March 1941 in Illinois (USA) and died on 20 February 2001. His work focused on understanding complex systems and how they work, especially in the context of global sustainability. Meadows is best known for her contribution to the book The Limits to Growth, published in 1972 by the Club of Rome. She was one of the co-authors of this influential report, together with her husband, Dennis Meadows, and other colleagues. The book used system dynamics models to assess the implications of continued economic growth in a world of finite resources. The report warned about the limits of the Earth's ability to sustain economic and population growth without negative consequences, such as natural resource scarcity and environmental damage.
