New trekking trail is opened for Vazhchal forest trekking under Vazhachal forest division, Thrissur district kerala. This is a 12 km long forest walk starts at 8 AM from Vazhchal forest station at Pokalappara.

Trekkers will be dropped in forest department vehicle near Peringalkuthu dam, trekking starts from there. Trekking destination is Karamthodu camp shed inside the forest which is on they way to an old parambikulam road. The forest is very beautiful and there is high chance of wildlife sightings especially elephants, sambar deers, lion tailed macaque and wild gaurs.

If you are lucky enough leopards, sloth bears and even tigers there in this forest. There are some restrictions for the number of people allowed just 8 in a group and maximum three such groups are only allowed (total 24 people per day), trekking cost is per head 1000 INR, including food. Minimum 4 people required for the trekking. As of now only Phone booking option available.
