It's good to know your doorbell transformer voltage if you plan on installing a Ring or Nest Doorbell. Typically the Ring Pro Doorbell requires 16V and the Nest Hello requires 16V to power the smart doorbell. Did This Help? Buy Me A Coffee: https://bit.ly/2Sonz7U This method of testing the doorbell transformer voltage will work for both regular doorbells and smart doorbells and is valid for both the Nest and Ring Doorbells. To test doorbell transformer voltage you need a multimeter. There are a ton of multimeters on the market but I like the Etekcity Auto Multimeter: https://amzn.to/35t5f2g because it automatically sets to the correct settings, it's simple to use and has a low cost. They also make a manual meter that is lower priced: https://amzn.to/31dXWIw that will get the job done but requires you to have a better understanding of the settings. If you are getting no power signal from the Ring Doorbell transformer it most likely means that your doorbell transformer is burnt out and you will need to replace it. If you are getting a reading less than 16V it is typically not enough for a smart doorbell and you will need to replace your doorbell transformer. This video shows you how: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-FZN9Y8TdBo If you have more than 16V you have enough for a smart doorbell and can install the Ring 2, Ring Pro or Nest Hello Doorbell. It also should be noted that the if you are getting more than 10V but less than 16V you can use the Ring 2 smart doorbell which requires only 10V: https://amzn.to/2OEIxhG Our Smart Home Website: https://www.onehoursmarthome.com/ Our Smart Home Podcast: https://tinyurl.com/yy7vrket Smart home devices I’ve installed in my home: Ring Pro Doorbell: https://amzn.to/2kzbsXP Nest Thermostat: https://amzn.to/2GWbVvT Nest Smoke/CO Detector: https://amzn.to/2XjqjEf Nest Smart Lock: https://amzn.to/2ErFIuV Nest Cam Outdoor: https://amzn.to/2GUxtcp Ring Security System: https://amzn.to/2Vh7Gz4 Smart Plugs:https://amzn.to/2EqtrGT Dual Smart Plugs: https://amzn.to/2EaXUay Smart Dimmer: https://amzn.to/2E6IIeC Smart Light Switch: https://amzn.to/2E68f7T Router (When I installed it my internet was 3X faster): https://amzn.to/2XjwckX Modem: https://amzn.to/2NnyBpX Echo Show: https://amzn.to/2BMhpWQ Echo Dot: https://amzn.to/2VhdV5X Echo Spot: https://amzn.to/2VeCnVu Sonos Beam: https://amzn.to/2EoG5X9 Sonos Amp: https://amzn.to/2XjFptq Sonos One: https://amzn.to/2Vd7ErR Sonos Play:1 https://amzn.to/2U4aj74 Amazon Cam: https://amzn.to/2BNfb9m Blink Cameras: https://amzn.to/2XhIA4G These are affiliate links that help support us creating great content so please click on any of them to support us.
