Dr. Scott Hahn presents: "Silent Knight, Holy Knight" at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help on Thursday August 15th, 2019
The National Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help (Champion Shrine) located in Champion, WI, is the only Church approved Marian Apparition site in the United States. The Blessed Mother appeared here on October 9th, 1859 to Adele Brise, a young Belgian immigrant woman, instructing her to "gather the children in this wild country and teach them what they should know for salvation."
12 years later, on October 8th, 1871 a devastating Midwestern drought caused an inferno of fire, which ravaged the area surrounding the Shrine. Nearby neighbors fled to the Shrine for refuge, praying the rosary all night long as the fires burned the fence line of the grounds. On the morning of the Apparition Anniversary on October 9th, there was a downpour that vanquished the fire, saving the lives of those who had gathered there. This has been remembered as the "Miracle of the Great Fire of 1871"
