What a grand finale to an incredible two month journey! I've accomplished way more than I anticipated behind the scenes, and I truly enjoyed the process of making these videos, rehearsal, recording, editing and everything else that came with it.
Originally 24 minutes, Octavarium is one of the longest songs of Dream Theater. This abridged version is basically skipping the first chapter "someone like him", also allowing me to start playing dynamic drum parts. Highly recommend listening to the intro tho, the band has an interesting take on Shine on You Crazy Diamond with Jorden Rudess's Haken Continuum Fingerboard, and Petrucci's crispy clean guitar chord progression. That said, nothing hits harder than the pan flute melody which starts and ends the song on the earlier album version. Strangely on streaming services, the band has changed the way the song ends, so I kept the original in this video as I love hearing the flute melody one last time.
