Are there any prettier mountains than those in California?
For this video, I drove up Highway 38 from the city of Yucaipa to the community of Big Bear. It was a bright sunny California day with highs in the mid 60s. The day was Friday, October 30, 2020 at 11 am.
This particular stretch of road begins at the bottom of the San Bernardino National Forest and winds its way all the way up to the top of the mountains. The road from the bottom to the top is about 43 miles, and takes a little more than an hour. There are a handful of small communities along this highway. There are also dozens of campgrounds, a few places to stock up on a few items, and a handful of fire fighting stations. But for the most part, it’s really isolated along this roadway.
Many of these hillsides and forested areas served as the backdrop for many Hollywood productions since they started making movies in the early 1900s. This area is about 80 miles northeast of downtown Los Angeles.
Anyways, hope you enjoy the really pretty drive.
