Tech Note: Salt water is very corrosive and will cause rust. Even humid ocean air contains salt water. So rule number 1 is stay out of the salt water. Salt-related corrosion will damage a car's frame, body panels, electrical components, and undercarriage. It is strongly advised to avoid salt water. So, if you choose to drive in the salt water, thoroughly was your vehicle afterwards, especially the undercarriage. Please note that even washing your car after will not guarantee the prevention of salt water related rust.
This video is about how to drive on the beach without getting stuck. We do a crawl control test and show a beach recovery. Here are some tips on how not to get stuck:
1. Stay out of the salt water.
2. Reduce tire pressure.
3. Check the tides.
4. Drive slow but keep momentum.
5. Avoid hard turns.
6. Beware of wet sand.
7. Once you lose traction in the sand and have wheel spin, abort immediately or you will just dig yourself in further.
8. Know your local beach regulations.
9. Carry recovery gear.
10. Do some on line research about driving techniques in the sand.
