In Overlanding in Norway Jotunheim Series EP2 we set our aim for the highest road in Norway, Galdhøpiggvegen, and it end up being an all day adventure with mind blowing views.
You need to see it to belive it, and if there is one route and one time you should drive it, it is this route and at this time of the year.
Tindevegen, Tinde road, going north or south, in late May or early June. Combining it with Sognefjellsvegen, Sogne Mountain Road, is the best option and then you can experience the drive up to Juvasshytta (cabin) and the magical views of surrounding area.
Øvre Årdal - Tindevegen - Turtagrø - Sognefjellsvegen - Leirdalsvegen - Galdhøpiggvegen - Juvasshytta - Lom - Camp
Not to forget the beautiful sight of the Staff Church in Lom, one of the biggest and oldest, dating all the way back to 1160.
Amazing roads and mindblowing views is the theme of this episode, and the lunch stop got to be one of the best one we have ever done.
We end the day with a steep and narrow road leading up to our second camp of the trip, and a super late dinner, in normal Overlanding in Norway style.

Juvasshytta is a family-run mountain lodge with traditions from 1884, and the closest starting point for trips to Galdhøpiggen. The cabin is located at 1,840 meters above sea level. and is Northern Europe's highest "mountain hut.

Galdhøpiggen is Norway's and Northern Europe's highest mountain. The mountain is located in Jotunheimen in Lom municipality, 2469 meters above sea level, and is one of the country's most popular mountain hikes.
The mountain is a national symbol in the heart of Norway, and lies in the alpine landscape of Jotunheimen National Park. It is possible to go to Galdhøpiggen both on foot in the summer and on skis in the winter.
