Wushan County is located on the eastern edge of Chongqing City and in the heart of the Three Gorges Reservoir Area. It is known as the "Gateway to Northeast Chongqing". It spans both sides of the Wu Gorge of the Yangtze River, bordering Badong County of Hubei Province to the east, Jianshi County of Hubei Province to the south, Fengjie County of Chongqing City to the west, Wuxi County of Chongqing City and the Shennongjia Forest District of Hubei Province to the north.
