what you need to safely clear:
some stuff for monkeys to steal in the first slot (in my case it was 40 bulbs)
1 shovel
1 axe
1 hammer
1 light (lantern)
1 torch
at least 40 rocks for walls
1 bait banana (if you are desperate or know what you are doing you can try to use a book to grow the banana instead of getting 1 from the ruins)
a boat (preferably grass)
for farming bananas for blueprints:
1 cartography table
2 horticulture abridged
20 fertilizers( 20 poop was easiest to get)
20 fillers (i usually get carrots from bunny hutches when getting bananas)
1 crock pot
1 additional banana
2 gates
more rocks or cut stone to wall off the portal but you should get enough stone from the broken machines on the island. you dont even need the wall off everything if you just make a banana bait pen
you can bring as much or little books as you want or even a book case but i find that you only need about 80 papyrus for your entire life time as wicker
