After a great Cold-drake killed both his father and brother Frór and lay waste to the Grey Mountains, Thrór and his remaining brother Grór fled south to lands their ancestors had long ago abandoned. While Grór continued east with a great following of Durin's folk to found the Mansion of The Iron Hills, Thrór led his people back to Erebor, the long abandoned fortress within the Lonely Mountain. Using the Key of Erebor, Thrór gained access to the ancient fortress and with his leadership expanded the keep into a sprawling and impressive Mansion of his own.
But many years have now passed. While Thrór's great deeds cannot be denied, his shrewd and callous nature has blossomed into outright distrust, paranoia, and greed. His brother's lands in the east continue to grow as Erebor, surrounded on all sides by Dale, grows richer but remains isolated and alone. Deep in his aging heart, Thrór's greed has taken hold of a greater dream: The Misty Mountains. And he knows that first step to achieving that dream must be restoring the ancient fortress of Gundabad.
