At long last, I will dye yarn in a slow cooker! These portable pots are great for maintaining a steady temperature for a long time. Today we will dye some KnitPicks Swish 100% superwash merino DK yarn http://shrsl.com/17y26 with food coloring in my Breville Slow Cooker https://amzn.to/2CHY37k (Affiliate Links.) [0:00] Introduction
[1:04] Presoaking the yarn in plain tap water for a little over an hour
[1:13] Setting up the slow cooker - 5 cups water + 1 T white vinegar (the 5th cup was added after I put the yarn in.) Turn the slow cooker onto slow cook LOW and wait for it to heat up before we start adding the dye.
[3:47] 40 min in, let's add some dye! I added drops of the liquid food coloring directly to the yarn
[8:07] 20 min after adding the dye
[9:05] 10 min later (30 min after adding the dye) shifting the yarn and adding more color.
[13:14] 20 min later - checking the yarn and adding a tiny bit more blue. Turn off the heat and leave the yarn in the pot to cool off.
[15:48] Washing the cooled off yarn
[17:44] The finished dry yarn and conclusions
