Around the turn of the 14th / 15th century, Italian innovation in gauntlet design began to show itself in the evolutionary step between the tried-and-true 'hourglass' gauntlet to what would eventually become the mitten gauntlet commonly associated with Milanese armors of the later 15th century. Today we look at a pair of gauntlets that fit into this transitional niche!
