Easy crochet pattern for pot mat, pot holder or chair seat
Crochet hook: 4 mm
Yarn: 230 yards /3,53oz.
In this video, I crochet a pot mat ,width 8,5 yards.
For pot holder (6 inches) - slipknot + chain12
For pot mat (8,5 inches) - slipknot + chain16
For chair seat (15") - slipknot + chain 30

If you have another yarn and crochet hook, make your own calculation:
Chain length = half the length of the finished product, first crochet slipknot then a chain of EVEN number. It's equal to the width of the finished pot mat , pot holder or chair seat.
